Description of Custom Embroidered Applique:  The technique of layering large pieces of cut fabric onto a garment (such as a sweatshirt, denim shirt or jacket, t-shirt, etc.) and then embroidering the stitching to hold it in place.

Description of Custom Embroidered Reverse Applique:  Reverse applique involves placing fabric on the inside of the garment, sewing the outline and other details of the design directly on the garment, and then cutting to expose the applique fabric underneath.  This leaves a raw frayed edge of your garment around the applique material that is on the under-side of it.  This applique is very fashionable today.

Logos In Stitches can help you with MADE-TO-ORDER APPLIQUE!  Here’s some of the applique we can do for you:  GREEK LETTERS – SCHOOL/TEAM NAMES – COMPANY NAMES – NUMBERS – LOGOS – MASCOTS – TAIL SWEEPS.  All of our applique is cut and sewn by us onto the garments you choose from our catalog.  We do not supply the cut pieces for our customers to use.  We do it all here at Logos In Stitches and you have a finished product delivered to you!

Applique is an alternative to large embroidery that is more costly for our customers.  Large fabric pieces are used to fill in the solid areas of your design or letters.  It is a great alternative for schools, teams and businesses that want a more upscale appearance at a more economical price.  Applique is durable and lasts a long time, which makes it very popular.  The numbers and team names you see on professional sports jerseys are all appliques made with tackle twill.

Here’s an explanation of the different materials we use for applique:

Tackle Twill – This is a 100% polyester fabric that’s woven into a twill pattern and is very strong and durable. A high gloss coating is applied to the surface of tackle twill which adds the satin sheen to it. It is mostly used for athletic uniforms, but also does well for school names with embroidery of the name of the sport in the tail, as you can see in the picture below.

Chino Distressed – The #1 choice for distressed applique is this 100% cotton chino twill fabric.  Distressed applique is manufactured to purposely create the frayed look.  It does not have anything applied to the fabric and it has a plain cotton look and feel.  It will curl and fray at the edges and the more your wash and wear it, the more it will have these characteristics. This apparel decoration technique is very popular with the young people today.

Vintage Felt – Our vintage felt is a soft and fuzzy acrylic material that achieves that vintage and old-fashioned appearance.  Before tackle twill came into the marketplace, this was the most popular choice for applique designs.  It was commonly used for the old-style letterman sweaters due to the soft and raised texture of the felt.  You can combine felt with other fabrics in your appliqued design to give it texture and dimension.

Flannel & Plaids – It is possible to include any soft fabric like this in your appliqued design.  It’s just a matter of personal preference.  The choices are just about unlimited.

Glitter – Glitter applique is very popular with cheerleaders and other fancy sports apparel.  You can also combine glitter with a twill background for a layered look.
